Svitliachok

A Ukrainian cultivar whose name means "firefly," from the breeding and research work of Svitlana Klymenko. It is a sport (somatic mutation) of Lukianivskyi and is reported to have one of the largest fruits of any Cornelian cherry, with a sugar content of 9.7%. Ripens mid-season; ripe fruit does not drop and stores well. Grows 10 to 20 feet tall and 7 to 8 feet wide and can be trained as a small tree or multi-stemmed shrub. Partially self-fertile, with better yields when planted with a second cultivar. Rated for zones 5 to 7.
