Kasandra persimmon

Kasandra

A hybrid persimmon bred and selected by the late David Lavergne from the Asian persimmon Great Wall crossed with an American persimmon male carrying Rosseyanka genetics. The tree looks much like an Asian persimmon, with large glossy leaves, and can be kept around 12 feet with pruning or reach about 20 feet unpruned. Reddish-orange fruit can be nearly 3 inches wide, is sweet and flavorful, and ripens in October. Self-fertile and reported hardy to -10°F.
