Persimmon of exceptional quality and large size, near 3 inches, that ripens late and is very delicious. Rosseyanka is a hybrid of American and Asian persimmon (Diospyros virginiana x D. kaki), bred by A. K. Pasenkov at the Nikita Botanical Garden in Crimea around 1959 by pollinating an American persimmon seedling with Asian persimmon pollen. The orange fruit is 2 to 3 inches across and nearly seedless, with a sweet, slightly spicy flavor and a smooth, custard-like texture once fully soft. It ripens from mid-October into November. A compact, upright tree of 15 to 20 feet with orange fall color. Self-fertile, though another persimmon nearby can improve the crop. Rated for zones 5 to 9.
